What is an account lockout?

Account lockout is a security feature that prevents unauthorized access to your YCCD Microsoft account. It happens when you enter the wrong password too many times in a short period. By default, there are 10 bad password attempts in 2 minutes, the account is locked out for 30 minutes. This protects the account from repeated brute-force sign-in attempts that may indicate an automated digital attack.

How to unlock your account?

The account will reset itself after 30 minutes or contact the YCCD User Support Services Team to unlock the account. You can also use the self-service password reset (SSPR) feature if you have registered the security methods beforehand.

How to prevent account lockout?

To avoid getting locked out of your account, you should follow some best practices for managing your password and security information. Here are some tips to help you:

• Use a strong and unique password that is not easy to crack.
• Change your password regularly and do not reuse it for other accounts or services.
• Do not share your password with anyone or write it down where others can see it.
• Register your security methods for multi-factor authentication (MFA) and SSPR.
• Keep your security information up to date and verify it periodically. You can update your phone number, email address, or security questions in the SSPR portal.
