Available buttons and calling features may differ depending on your Microsoft Teams version, account policy, calling license, and enabled organizational features.
Instructions
Open the Calls Area
- Open the Microsoft Teams desktop app.
- Sign in with your YCCD work account.
- Select Calls from the navigation bar on the left.
- Select the appropriate Calls area:
- Speed dial: Quickly access frequently used contacts.
- Contacts: Find and call people in your contact list.
- History: Review incoming, outgoing, and missed calls.
- Voicemail: Access voicemail messages available to your account.
- Dial pad: Enter a telephone number and place a call.

- Select Calls from the left navigation bar.
- Select Contacts, or use the search field to locate the person.
- Select the Audio call button associated with the contact.
- Open Calls.
- Locate the Dial pad.
- Enter the telephone number using the on-screen keypad or your keyboard.
- Select Call.
When an incoming-call notification appears:
- Review the caller information displayed in the notification.
- Select Answer to accept the audio call.
- Select Decline if you cannot take the call.

During an active call, the following controls may be available:
- Mute: Turns your microphone off or on.
- Keypad: Opens a keypad for interacting with automated telephone menus.
- Hold: Places the active call on hold.
- Transfer: Sends the call to another person or available destination.
- More: Displays additional calling options available to your account.
- Hang up: Ends the call.

- During the active call, select Hold.
- When you are ready to continue the call, select Resume.
- During the active call, select Transfer.
- If Transfer is not visible, open More actions.
- Search for and select the person who should receive the call.
- Select the available transfer option to complete the transfer.
- Open Calls.
- Select History.
- Review the call information to identify incoming, outgoing, and missed calls.
- Select the appropriate call option next to a person or telephone number to return the call.
- Open Calls.
- Select Voicemail.
- Select a voicemail message from the list.
- Use the available controls to play the message.
- Review the voicemail transcript if one is provided.
- In Microsoft Teams, select Settings and more near your profile picture.
- Select Settings.
- Select Devices.
- Review the speaker and microphone currently configured for Teams.
- Select the devices you want Teams to use for calls.
💡 Tips/Troubleshooting:
Calls or the Dial Pad is missing:
The Calls area, dial pad, and other calling options may depend on your account’s calling license and YCCD organizational policies.
If the Calls area, dial pad, or another required calling feature is unavailable, contact the YCCD Helpdesk for assistance
The Other Person Cannot Hear You
- Confirm that Mute is not enabled.
- Open Settings and more.
- Select Settings, and then select Devices.
- Confirm that the correct microphone is selected.
You Cannot Hear the Other Person
- Check the volume on your computer, headset, or external speakers.
- Open Settings and more.
- Select Settings, and then select Devices.
- Confirm that the correct speaker or headset is selected.
Quick Reference
- Calls > Dial pad: Enter and call a telephone number.
- Calls > History: Review recent and missed calls.
- Calls > Voicemail: Listen to available voicemail messages.
- During a call > Hold: Temporarily pause the call.
- During a call > Transfer: Send the call to another person.
- Settings > Devices: Select the microphone and speakers used by Teams.
