🗂️ Overview

Who is this for?

  • College Administrators

This article contains information on navigating the Web Accessibility Compliance Tracker.
The Web Accessibility Compliance Tracker is a tool developed by YCCD IT to help identify, assign, track, and document accessibility issues on our public websites.

☑️ Before you begin Access to this tracker has been pre-established. Access for additional staff may be requested through your local administrator.

District and College Overview

The main dashboard provides a District-wide view of web accessibility and individual summaries for District Office, Yuba College, and Woodland Community College. It shows open accessibility findings, severity, past-due items, recently resolved issues, and overall progress.

An important part of the tracker is identifying who is responsible for addressing an issue. Findings within a page's content are assigned to the college or District Office that owns that content. Technical findings are assigned to District IT.

Responsibility

Responsibility is noted in the Who Fixes It area for each website.

District IT is responsible for correcting the technical issues as identified under the District IT (technical) section.
District and College employees are responsible for correcting issues identified under the College Content section.
As new issues are discovered during the weekly scans, any additional issues found needing District IT resources will be resolved as quickly as possible.

Reviewing Accessibility Issues

Selecting the instances in the Who Fixes It area opens the underlying list of accessibility issues for that website.

The Issues page provides more detail about each finding, including:

  • The accessibility problem identified
  • The affected webpage
  • Severity
  • Who is responsible for addressing it
  • The website owner and page author
  • Current status
  • How long the issue has been open and when it was first identified

Filters at the top of the page can be used to narrow the list by website, status, severity, responsibility, owner, author, accessibility standard, and other criteria. There is also an option to view only past-due issues.

The Author field is provided as a reference to help identify who created the page; it does not indicate that the author is responsible for resolving the issue. Responsibility is identified separately under Who fixes it.

Reviewing and Updating an Indivdual Issue

Selecting an issue ID opens the complete record for that accessibility finding.

The issue record explains what is wrong, identifies the affected page and element, shows the applicable WCAG criterion, and includes a How to fix this link for additional guidance. Below is a screenshot of what those sites might look like.

Once work begins, the Update section can be used to document activity:

  • Add comment to record notes or progress while the issue is being addressed.
  • Mark resolved once the issue has been corrected. The work completed can be documented when resolving the issue.
  • Change who fixes it if the issue has been assigned to the wrong area.
  • Record exception when an exception is appropriate and the required justification has been documented.

Each issue also maintains a History, providing an audit trail from the time the issue is identified through resolution.

The goal of the tracker is to give each college clear visibility into its web accessibility issues while providing a consistent District-wide process for assigning responsibility, documenting remediation work, and tracking issues through resolution.
