How to Report Phishing or Spam Emails

Question
How do I report phishing or spam emails?
Answer

As part of the California Community College Chancellors Office Information Security initiative, YCCD is being provided an Information Security Training and email security suite.  As this is included in the new security license we are no longer using the KnowBe4 platform to report malware, phishing or spam email.

Below are the instructions for reporting emails.

To report a suspected malware, phishing or spam email please the use the following procedure.

  1. In the browser version of Outlook, click on the … in the upper left corner of a message.

    1. Junk – Junk email is unwanted, unsolicited email that is often sent out in bulk.
    2. Phishing – Phishing messages are designed to obtain your personal information by impersonating popular brands or including malicious links in the boy of a message.
    3. Not Junk – Reporting messages incorrectly marked as junk helps improve junk detection in the future.
      1. NOTE: This should only be run on messages in the ‘Junk Email’ folder
